After over 50 years of war, on Monday, September 27th of 2016 a peace treaty that many have dreamed and hoped for was signed between las Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC) and the government.

It has been 50 years of war among armed groups of guerrilla insurgents, militaries and paramilitaries, where violence and death touched every Colombia in a direct or indirect manner. All these groups have been victimized and have been victims themselves of this atrocious violence and rage over power. Not to mention the millions of innocent civilians, violently and atrociously killed or displaced from their homes.

This act will come to a final vote on October 2nd, where the majority of Colombians will decide if they want to make peace with the FARC once and for all and accept the insertion of this insurgent group back into society, or prolong this instability by denying their impunity and pleading for a harsh punishment instead.

This is why Mujeres que le Cantan a la Paz is an initiative to unite Colombians, in this case women, that have been directly affected by war, to get together and show others that they are willing to say, sing and dance YES to peace.  Epic bullerengue singers came together for this concert. They were Toto la Momposina, La Negra Grande de Colombia and Petrona Martinez. It was a beautiful night.
