The Sharks couldn’t keep up with the undefeated streak and this afternoon, after eight weeks, Junior suffered its first loss of the year in Rionegro 2-1 against the Eagles.

For the Paisas, both goals were scored by Hanyer Mosquera (7 min and 49 min). Junior got closer on the scoreboard after the conversion of a penalty by Vladimir Hernandez (51 min).

Overall the game was very unlucky for Junior; the rival scored very early and then decided to play defense the rest of the match, leaving the Rojiblancos with very few space to play. The Eagles only tried to score with counterattacks and after conceded fouls. They were very precise; every time they had a chance, they scored, and that’s what set the final result.

Also, due to an injury, the Barranquilleros, couldn’t start the game with their best goalie and captain (Sevastian Viera) and were forced to play with the second in order (Jose Chunga), who also after only 14 minutes had to leave the game due to muscular problems, leaving the most important position on the field to the third option, Jair Mosquera.

At the second half, after scoring, Junior suffered from a lack of offensive ideas that mixed perfectly with the rival’s tactics and were not able to do much to score the equalizer.

Despite the game’s result, Junior is still the leader of the Aguila League with 16 points, and in second place is Atletico Nacional and the Millonarios with 15 units. In fourth place is Aguilas Rionegro with 13.
