This past Friday, February 17th, at 7:00 p.m., the Barranquillera night was illuminated with the lanterns carried by more than 13,000 actors of Carnaval, who paraded along 44th avenue in the traditional parade of Guacherna, an event organized every year by Carnival of Barranquilla SAS, in homage to the Bride of Barranquilla, Esthercita Forero, as a preamble to the great party that Colombians will live from February 25th to 28th.

In 2017, the night parade opened with a staging led by the Secretary of Culture, Patrimony and Tourism District, under the artistic coordination of Pedro Díaz and José Jiménez, who had 450 artists that make up the District Cultural Houses, and who danced to the rhythm of the songs that immortalized ‘Esthercita Forero’, under the musical direction of William González. The opening was divided into five blocks consisting of: the District Band, 50 flaggers carrying the flags of Barranquilla,  and Capital de Vida, followed by children, youth and adults who are part of the District Cultural Houses, with party-going clothes in neon colors to give brightness and color to the show.
